ARMES Program



Join ARMES Next Year

What is ARMES?

ARMES (Arts Reaching Middle and Elementary Schools) is an exciting, free program for students who are gifted in the arts. If you love music, art, acting, dancing, or writing, this is your chance to explore your talents and have fun with other creative students!

Where and When Do We Meet?

ARMES classes happen after school once or twice a week at these schools:

League Academy (Central Site)
Greer Middle (Northern Site)
Hillcrest Middle (Southern Site)


 

What Can You Learn in ARMES?

Check out all the cool programs we offer:

Music (3rd-5th Grade)
Visual Art (3rd-8th Grade)
Theatre (3rd-8th Grade)
Dance (3rd-8th Grade, Central & Northern Sites)
Creative Writing (3rd-8th Grade, Central Site Only)
Woodwind, Brass, Percussion (7th-8th Grade; 6th graders can audition after the 2nd 9 weeks)
Strings (3rd-8th at the Central Site Only; 7th-8th at Southern & Northern Sites and 6th graders can audition after 2nd 9 weeks)
Choral Music (6th-8th Grade)

Attendance Matters

                                                   Attendance Matters...every school day counts!

                                 Missing a day of school here and there may not seem like much, but absences add up!




When a student misses 2 days a month...

They will miss 20 DAYS a year. 

They will miss 30 HOURS of math over the school year.

They will miss 60 HOURS of reading & writing over the school year.

They will miss over 1 YEAR of school by graduation.



When a student misses 4 days a month...

They will miss 40 DAYS a year.

They will miss 60 HOURS of math over the school year.

They will miss 120 HOURS of reading & writing over the school year.

They will miss over 2 YEARS of school by graduation.

 

 

 


Reporting of Social Media Threats

Superintent and Sheriff Ask Parents for Help on Reporting Social Media Threats

GCS Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster and Sheriff Hobart Lewis ask for parents’ help in ensuring effective reporting of potential threats. The Chiefs of the six local municipal police departments join in full support. We ask parents to monitor your child’s social media accounts closely, help control the spread of false threats and misinformation, and ensure effective reporting occurs. Having your child follow the See Something, Say Something protocols by reporting potential threats directly to the school or law enforcement will maximize the effective use of school and law enforcement resources and ultimately create a safer environment for all students. Student Enrollment

Student Enrollment Forms
Parents can now enroll and upload documents online by creating a Parent Backpack account.  Please visit the Greenville County Schools Enrollment website to learn more and start the enrollment process. 

Student Enrollment

The following documents are needed to enroll:

Copy of Parent's Driver's License
Your child’s Birth Certificate
A current South Carolina Immunization record from DHEC (All out of state immunizations must be transferred to a SC Immunization for school)
Two Proofs of Residency (which can include):A current Electric, Water, or Gas Bill displaying the address of residence and billing date within the past 30 days
Closing statement for home or current mortgage statement for primary residence showing property address (not mailing address)
Property Tax Form
Most recent state or federal income tax return displaying the address of residence.
Current statement from DSS (Department of Social Services) or any other Government Agency which provides residency of the parent/legal guardian
 

PLEASE NOTE: ANY PARENTS PROVIDING A LEASE AGREEMENT AS A FORM OF PROOF OF RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT UPDATED LEASE AGREEMENTS UPON THE EXPIRATION OF THE CURRENT LEASE AGREEMENT.

Rent the Rocks

Sign-ups to RENT THE ROCK are open for 2024-2025 dates! Please review all details on the sign up genius                                                                                                                                  (rules, restrictions, etc) and be sure to sign up for the correct rock!  

All registrations must be paid at the time of signup! PTA reserves the right to cover any inappropriate artwork.

Carline Rock: Available Monday- Friday on days when school is in session. No weekends or holidays.

 Reid School Rock: Available seven days/week! This includes weekends, holidays, and all summer long!
